Funded under the PR CALABRIA FESR FSE 2021-2027 program, the IOS4OS project aims to develop and validate cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence solutions by leveraging the potential of the Answer Set Programming (ASP) paradigm.
The project focuses on creating a new cloud-native infrastructure, named DLV-SaaS, paired with a High-Performance Core Engine. The integration of these technologies aims to deliver advanced intelligent services, applied and validated in real-world operational and industrial scenarios.
Coordination and Monitoring
The project’s governance involves a clear and synergistic division of roles among the partners:
- The technical and scientific monitoring of the entire project is entrusted to the Scientific Manager, Carmine Dodaro.
- General coordination (Project Management) and administrative monitoring are managed by the lead partner, e-way.
Objectives and Use Cases
The research and development conducted within the project materialize in technological applications across two main industrial use cases:
- First Use Case (Echopress): Design and development of an advanced system (iPR – intelligent Project Reporting) to support project reporting. The system integrates ASP-based Artificial Intelligence techniques delivered via the DLV-SaaS infrastructure to automate and optimize management processes. The system will be validated and verified in a real-world scenario to test its performance and reliability.
- Second Use Case (e-way & DIMES): Application of AI technologies via DLV-SaaS for optimized personnel logistics management. Specifically, the lead partner e-way, in synergy with the DIMES department of the University of Calabria, will develop Man-Pol, an innovative support system for the logistical distribution of Local Police personnel. The goal is to optimize human resource planning, shift management, and economic allocation by leveraging advanced forecasting and AI algorithms based on DLV-SaaS.
The Role of DLVSystem
Within the consortium, DLVSystem leads Work Package 2 (WP2) and actively contributes to WP3, acting as the technological hub for transforming the artificial intelligence engine into a cloud service. Specifically, our team is responsible for:
- Analyzing the state of the art regarding intelligent services and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) architectures.
- Designing and developing an innovative container-based system (Docker/Kubernetes) for delivering DLV-SaaS in a cloud environment.
- Integrating complex systems for Real-Time Data Flow management within the DLV-SaaS architecture.
The technological innovation brought by DLVSystem will interface with the new High-Performance Core Engine (CDCL Solver for ASP), designed and developed in close collaboration with our academic partner, DEMACS.
