DLVSystem is proud to join the STROKE 5.0 project, an innovation initiative funded by the Sustainable Growth Fund under the Innovation Agreements framework.
This strategic project aims to develop a state-of-the-art decision support system for the pre-hospital management of stroke, with significant applications in emergency care and telemedicine.
The initiative leverages advanced Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KRR) techniques to model optimal procedures and clinical guidelines for the treatment of acute stroke. Its objectives include reducing variability in clinical decision-making, improving the effectiveness of interventions, and optimizing response times. Target applications encompass the evaluation of Stroke Code activation, the exclusion of alternative pathologies, the estimation of ischemic stroke probability, and the recommendation of the most appropriate healthcare facility for each patient.
Within this initiative, DLVSystem is responsible for Implementation Objective 4 (OR4), fully dedicated to the design of the KRR system. Our team oversees the entire process: from the analysis of national and international clinical guidelines (A.4.1), to the design of ontology and evidence-based logical models (A.4.2), through to the definition of system interoperability (A.4.3). A key deliverable is the development of a deductive reasoning engine capable of integrating assessment scales (FAST, Cincinnati, GCS, RACE, NIHSS) with vital signs, patient history, and logistical data, in order to provide real-time operational recommendations.
The STROKE 5.0 project is grounded in an in-depth analysis of Care Pathways (PDTA) and leading clinical best practices, such as the Bern Stroke Network guidelines, strengthening the bridge between technological research and the needs of the clinical and scientific community.
DLVSystem is committed to contributing its expertise in Artificial Intelligence to the success of this pioneering project, which is set to bring meaningful innovation to stroke emergency management, in line with the broader goals of healthcare innovation and sustainable growth
