Artificial Intelligence based on logical reasoning is taking a decisive step toward the IT infrastructure of the future. DLVSystem is proud to announce its active participation in the IOS4OS (Intelligent Optimization System for Optimization Solutions) project, an ambitious initiative funded under the PR CALABRIA FESR FSE 2021-2027 program (Action 1.1.1).
The project aims to democratize and scale access to the most advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies, transforming the power of the Answer Set Programming (ASP) paradigm into a flexible, robust, and extremely high-performance cloud service.
The Goal: The Birth of the DLV-SaaS Infrastructure
The main challenge of IOS4OS is the creation of a new cloud-native infrastructure, named DLV-SaaS, paired with an innovative computing engine (High Performance Core Engine). This technological synergy is designed to overcome current physical processing limits, enabling the delivery of complex intelligent services capable of optimizing real-world operational and industrial scenarios on a massive scale.
The Central Role of DLVSystem
Within the consortium, DLVSystem stands as the technological heart of the initiative. Leading Work Package 2 (WP2) and making a fundamental contribution to WP3, our team is responsible for the delicate transition of the AI engine toward a Software-as-a-Service architecture.
Specifically, our activities focus on:
- Cloud-Native Infrastructure: Design and development of an innovative container-based system (Docker/Kubernetes) for the optimal and secure delivery of DLV-SaaS.
- Real-Time Data Flows: Integration of complex systems for Real time Data Flow management within the new architecture.
- Computing Power: Interfacing the cloud system with the new Core Engine (CDCL Solver for ASP), designed and developed in close collaboration with researchers from our academic partner, DEMACS.
From Data to Reality: Industrial Use Cases
The effectiveness and robustness of the DLV-SaaS infrastructure will be validated through two vertical applications in challenging contexts:
- The “iPR” System (with Echopress): Development of an advanced platform (intelligent Project Reporting) for automated project reporting support. AI will optimize timesheet management, significantly reducing administrative inefficiencies.
- The “Man-Pol” System (with e way and DIMES): Application of DLV-SaaS technologies to optimize the personnel logistics of the Local Police. The system will leverage advanced forecasting and AI algorithms to automate shift assignments and optimize the allocation of economic resources.
A Consortium of Excellence
IOS4OS represents a perfect example of synergy between academic research and the industrial sector. Coordinated by the lead partner e way (Project Management) and scientifically guided by Prof. Carmine Dodaro (DEMACS), the consortium boasts the collaboration of DLVSystem, Echopress, and the excellence of the University of Calabria through its DEMACS, DIMES and DEMAG departments.
